The trip over from Lane to the tarns below and then up a vegetated hill to the saddle kicked my ass. But it was so worth it. The view on the other (north)side was amazing. Dropped packs and bagged Wahpenayo, a really fun scramble up past several false summits. I used a lot of tree branches and bear grass as hand holds throughout the day, a new kind of climbing for me! Awesome traverse, would love to return and hit the rest of the peaks in the range.
Lots of snow. Great views of Rainier. The tatoosh is a great range!

OSAT Tatoosh Traverse
Six OSATers did the Traverse in the late spring from The Castle to Eagle, summiting them all. We camped just south of Lane Peak, which is the most enjoyable of the scrambles.
On Wahpenayo the six of us did about 4 different routes to the summit!

Slog Slug Chug
We traversed from Lane to Wahpenayo via some nasty contouring below the NE Ridge. Followed a gap in the ridge, hoping it was the right choice. It was. We then followed the NE Ridge to a false summit. Between us and the summit was some rather flat, but also nasty traversing among tough little evergreens and loose rock. Yuck. After traversing a couple small bowls we encountered the West Ridge and a small climbers path which took us speedily to the summit.
