Wasp on Oxeye Daisy

The Common Wasp (Vespula vulgaris) on an Oxeye Daisy (Chrysanthemum leucanthemum). These black and yellow wasps can be seen from April through October. They build their nests underground. The queen picks up and starts building the site, which is later enlarged by the workers. A finished nest may contain as many as 5,000 to 10,000 individuals. Common Wasps feed on nectar and fruit.
