Water in the desert

Water in the desert

Well, perhaps desert is a slight exaggeration for the general area around Sorrueda, but it's relatively dry. However, the canyon with all the rock climbing routes acts as a funnel, collecting water coming down from higher grounds, and the walls of the canyon offer shelter from the strong sun to avoid evaporation. As a result, the canyon is quite lush, in contrast to the much more open area further down the valley, which has much less vegetation. 8 December 2013.
