When I climbed Gould, July, 2007, they caused a great deal of difficulty during descent--some of them don't seem to lead anywhere but into cliffs! My opinion is that this is one instance where most of them should probably be taken down.

Re: One thing it might be worth...That's why I try to carry a GPS! But you are exactly correct. Cairns that lead to the wrong route are worthless and potentially dangerous.
