Western Whiptail- juvenile

A young Aspidoscelis tigris spotted in the south fork of Pine Creek of Red Rocks, Nevada. Western Whiptails are also known as Great Basin Whiptails. They are durinal and very active medium size lizards that almost never stop moving. They can often be seen running from bush to bush. Their tail can reach up to two times the length of their body. The tail tip is dark or bluish, and bright blue on juveniles. Juveniles have fairly well-defined stripes.
