On the 2nd try!
This one considered to be the easiest one... I made attempt in April and had to turn back after 10 miles of 25 miles trek from the closed gate, as night temps drop down to 5F. Spent the night in August on the plateau between Barcroft and White. Temps dropped down to 20's. It is always windy here so go well prepared; there is no natural protection above the tree line. Stake your tent and use guy lines.

Tick
Ticked it off after getting stormed off the Sierras the day before. Lots of hail, but refused to make that drive again.

Did this as a recovery hike after Palisades Traverse attempt the day before. Lots of people, but beautiful open slopes with good views.

From Barcroft Gate
Camped out by the gate. Lot of researchers around around. Wasn't terribly enjoyable with all the motorbike and SUVs going back and forth. Took longer than anticipated. We left around 7 in the morning and got back around 3:15 in the afternoon.

Barcroft Gate
Hiked up with AJ. Longer hike than expected. We slept at the gate, woke up and headed out at 7am, made it back by ~3pm. Researchers were on the peak - did not enjoy the SUVs & motorbikes on trail.

Mtn Bike Descent
A stark and brutal hike in a lunar landscape. I highly recommend dragging a mtn bike with you to increase the excitement on the otherwise slog of a descent. Kinda underestimated this one. Though technically very easy, it still requires good conditioning, those last switchbacks above 13k were um....tougher than I thought they'd be. Killer views of course.
Made the summit - nice hike but weather wasn't cooperating - started sunny, clouds rolled in, at summit had tiny amount of snowflakes. On hike back clouds gathered and wind picked up eventually it started hailing with thunder threatening (but not a big problem) and very windy with 50 degree temperature. Quite an adventure.

Had a great hike and a great day with my father in law. We should all be in such good shape as we get older. Slept in the truck at the gates of the NASA base and hiked up the next day. Summitted with no problems what so ever. Had tried to solo earlier in the year, but due to snow and road conditions had to start much further away and ran out of steam.

Eye opening
My first 14er, back in 2002. Before I was in good hiking shape, so my memory is that is was more difficult than any other 14er I've done. I'd like to go back and do it again now that I know what the hell I'm doing out there. I remember watching marmots dropping out from cars at the trailhead and being grateful for the chickenwire fence we'd brought along.

Barcroft gate route access
A friend and I left LA to head to White Mtn for a climb and we stopped in Lone Pine to check on conditions and supplies...needless to say the road to White Mtn from the California side is now closed and not supposed to be open until June 10 (Barcroft gate route).
Left the TH at 0200, hit the summit for sunrise, cooked a mahvelous b-fast of sausage, pancakes, coffee, and champagne. A most memorable way to do an easy peak.

Highest Peak for me so far
Drove from Vegas, camped at the locked gate, hiked 3 hours 45 minutes to the summit. Took a detour and did Barcroft Mountain on the way back.

Mountained bike on the downhill and walked most of the uphill. Relatively easy hike, all trail and no obstacles. Was a little tired from Monty and Boundary the day before. Smoke from the fires limited the view a little.

East Side
Easy hike with beautiful and unique views of the eastern wall of the Sierra. This mountain range has a very special feel to it. A trip to the bristlecones afterward is a must!
