This was one of the worst slopes. We tried to traverse higher up when a large crack forced us to turn around. Photographed December 26, 2009.

The Crux

It doesn't look bad, but that is because what is above us is a 200 foot of slope at a 40 degree angle. And that lake ain't completely frozen either.

That's right. This is the first slope where I saw a long crack open up when I stepped onto it. Here is a photograph of the same slope in August.
