"Worship Room" on the Joint Trail in Canyonlands NP

Hike the Joint Trail from the west and your first contact with the actual joint for which is it named ("joint" being an old term for a split between the rocks) is this room, which I dubbed the "worship room". The joint makes a hard left turn where the light is seen in the distance, then continues for about another several hundred yards before exiting out into an area surrounded by the spectacular pinnacles that decorate this area of the Needles District in Canyonlands National Park, UT. In the image is my hiking partner, Ray. For those interested, the foreground light was too bright to shoot a successful picture, so I used a +2 graduated neutral density filter, turned upside down and at an angle, to get the results you see. The exposure is 1/20 second, hand-held, without IS. I'm actually pleased and surprised that it came out so well. Imaged in May 2010.
