Icy summit, beautiful climb  Sucess!

We were intending to climb Algonquin but a late start had us at the Col at 3:30pm. We decided to go up Wright Peak instead. There had been rain and ice storms the in the weeks previous so everything above the tree line was covered in sheets of ice and was very slippery. Crampons were a must and we spend a lot of the descent above the tree line sliding on our butts. Surprisingly technical and fun climb and great views of surrounding peaks.

Windy!  Sucess!

Beautiful. Scramble at the top was quite technical with wind blasting. Lots of fun!

Great Views  Sucess!

Had the summit to myself for a good twenty mountains. No wind(surprising), great weather, and great views.

MacIntyre Range Winter Traverse  Sucess!

Completed the MacIntyre traverse in February of 2014. It was BRUTALLY cold, with temps reaching 40 below with the wind chill... EPIC!!

All by my self  Sucess!

Left early and was the only one at the top, even during the Lake Placid Iron Man weekend. Hiked to the Dam and up between Whale Tale and Wright. Continued on to the rest of the ridge.

Side trip!  Sucess!

Made side trip to Wright on the way to Algonquin to tag another 46er. Actually seemed harder than Algonquin(maybe just needed 2nd wind). No views from summit, misty rain with high winds but still a fun time!

Long Run  Sucess!

Marking 4/46 this was a great climb. While looking across at the the continuing hike up Algonquin it was very discouraging....however the first part up to the junction is by far the worst of this entire hike....including going over to iroquois

side trip  Sucess!

Sixty minutes from the summit of Algonquin to here via the trail. Some aircraft parts are still there next to the plaque. Two of them looked to be landing gear components of some sort (heavy steel) but there was a bit of aluminum too.

Dangerous Weather  Sucess!

Summited Wright Peak 4580' via the trail from the ADK Loj after summiting Algonquin and after an abandoned attempt on Iroquois Peak due to severe, hurricane-force winds (gusts of at least 80mph) inhibiting further travel on the unmarked and very exposed trail to Iroquois. Severe wind on Wright, along with the steepness and exposure towards the summit made it a very difficult attempt. We mananged to get next to the summit but could not clamber onto the large rock that marks the summit (5 feet from us) due to the danger of being blown down the exposed rock by the incredible wind.

New Slide Approach  Sucess!

Great slide climb, though a tricky base to find (i.e. v. dense bush whacking to get there). Start at the first Avanlache lean-to, following the brook for most of the way up, cutting over before its end (about 20-30 minutes). I couldn't see the new slide from the trail and went a bit too far - making for some "interesting" path-finding :) Slide itself was great, and it comes out just shy of the summit.

Easy climb  Sucess!

Nice little climb, include Algonquin with it. Definitely worth the trip, the aircraft remnants intrigued me!

4th 46er, Long Time Ago!

Found my old 46er letters and logs. This was my 4th. Found the B-47 plaque but no pieces!

Fog and incredible wind  Sucess!

100 foot visibility and 50 mph winds kept us from lingering, but we made it up in about 2 and half hours from the Loj.

Crusin'  Sucess!

Climbed up this badboy on a beautiful Summer morning with my pal #9. The lot was full, adding an additional 2 miles on our roundtrip, but I believe we made the top in 2 hours. Perfect summer hike in the Adirondacks. Made it back down in time for a dip in Mirror Lake, some UBUs and dinner at LPPB, a nap, then a nightcap at Zig Zags. #16 for me.
