Very warm day, we walked up in our undershirts. Nice wiew of the Lyskhamtraverse!
climbed in 2006
Gabi, Sev and I left M. Hut at 6am... very windy, so a bit scary in the ridge up to the virgin. Then back down thorugh the Glacier de Grenz to Zermatt where we arrived at around 2pm. Beautiful views of Cervino and Lyskamm all the route.
From Dufourspitze - a few tricky bits to the top, but what nice views from there!
one of the highest of Monte rosa group, less people thanon nearby margerita
Route: Zermatt - Stockhorn - Monte Rosa hut - Zumsteinspitze - Zermatt
Another great 2 day skitrip in the Monte Rosa area.
More images from this ascent.
Beautiful skitour to Zumsteinspitze 4563m.
report & photos are here: Link to Zumsteinspitze 4563m
It was a long snow shoe walk from the Mantova hut. But this April trip was great. Very nice summit in the hart of the Monte Rosa massif
Start of the day - too early and too cold to enjoy properly
Part of traverse from KM to Nordend in one day.
Climbed Signalkuppe first then bagged this one too before going back to the Gnifetti hut.
Nice snow climb.
We had bad weather. Normally we would do the traverse to Dufourspitze over the Grenzsattel, but the weather was to bad.
Climb it from Cab. Margherita.
I climbed the Zumstein in 30 minutes from Capanna Margherita. The weather was very nice and the view too. From the summit we went to Rotenboden, close to the Gornergrat.
Solo trough Grenzgletscher to the summit by normal route with back pack full of food and bivack equipement. I met 2 Italians on the top, they did it from Dufour Sp. Cold wind at that day, strong sun. The rocky part is worth your every step, I found it very atractive.
Nice hight walking. Very nice day: sunny but very worm.
We started at 4:30 in the morning from Città di Mantova hutte and we arrived at the top of Zumsteinspitze in 3:10. Than we traversed to Signalkuppe, Parrotspitze, Ludvishohe, Corno Nero and back again at the hutte before 12:00.
A long walking for an unforgettable day.
I suggest to try: long but easy. And very spectacular
Round trip, from Mantova hut, through Lisjoch, then this summit, to be followed by Signalkuppe...Alone ! Fierce wind that day but sunny...
Traversed to Dufourspitze. Part of three day tour including Castor, Pollux, Lyskamm traverse, Parrotspitze etc.
A long day starting in the Marguerita hut at 8 AM and ending in Zermatt at 7:30 PM. Took us 25 minutes from Marguerita hut to the summit of Zumsteinspitze and then an addtional 3 hours to reach the top of Dufourspitze. A very beautiful ridge traverse. From there, 4 hours down to the Monte Rosa hut and an additional 2.5 hour and two glaciers to the Rotenboden train station. From there a half and hour ride to Zermatt.
Easy walk up. The ridge to the Grenzgipfel is very airy..... (but very nice!!)
