Quite a few!

Eric,
Try and go to/near Mt Śnieżnik: one May, at dusk I saw about 30 red deer doe holding tightly together in a glade on the Czech slopes - looked like a Serengheti scene or a gathering of ghosts (completely silent)
Cheers,
Jacek

Incredible view!

For over 12 years and hiking through wildest places there I've never seen by day more than 25 of them, lucky you Eric! that's great!

Re:Incredible view!

And this is not my record... once in Pyrenees near the Punta Suelsa I surprised at least 70-80 chamois (called isards in pyrenees), but unfortunately at this time I didn't have my zoom, and the Isards are much quicker (and shy) than the Tatras ones !

Re: Re:Incredible view!

So a new competition can be held:-)
BTW This photo should go in an Eastern (not W) Tatra album

Re: Re:Incredible view!

I know, but a High Tatras album is in my plans too, and I wanted to publish this picture anyway.

Re: Re:Incredible view!

That's understandable - great catch. Perhaps one more album: "My Chamois of the West and East Ends of Europe"?

Re: Re:Incredible view!

I've got too few chamois pictures for that, and most of the time I hiked in the Pyrenees I didn't have the zoom I have now. Anyway they are all attached (and in fair position) to the general chamois album, as well as the polish ones in Henryk's fauna of Poland. I'ev got few marmot too by the way, some eastern and western ones :)
