A Lovers\' Quarrel
The Canada Geese couple enjoying warm Nevada sun in Henderson Bird Preserve.
Mallard Ducks (also a couple, male and a female) are swimming by in the background.
January 2009.

Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) mate for life. Males and females look very much alike with males being slightly bigger.

The Canadian geese are in our neck of the woods these days as well. Guess they're digging the warm temps in SoCal this year! :)

I'm sure they do. I took this picture on a warm day also. Unfortunately I have never seen their young. They must be nesting somewhere else.

Thank you Alec. I watched them for quite a while. These two hanged out together and I was getting lots of nice but boring shots of just two geese standing around. Finally they started getting loud and even ducks showed up (definitely a couple too) by chance and it all made for a more exciting picture.
