Abiathar Peak seen from the Lamar Valley. The summit is not visible, and what appears to be the summit here is really the "ear," a distinctive landmark along the standard route. The long ridge seen here is the standard route and reportedly goes at Class 3 and 4 with serious exposure and rotten rock, but it is also, according to locally well-known guidebook author Thomas Turiano, one of the greatest ridge traverses in Greater Yellowstone. I hope to provide firsthand details after next summer.
