Abitibi

Abitibi, a region of austere beauty which, despite it's lack of mountainous appeal, is sufficiently beyond the mainstream to evoke what the outback epitomises mostly once discovering the outer fringe of an area mostly associated with mining and mining lore. Click on the image to expand it Once travelling by bike I would travel far within the wilderness occasionally uncovering a proper vista to view the area under a different perspective, such a view often being tainted with visions of mountains with its rocky streams, glacial lakes and evergreen forests giving the area the appeal of some lost frontier ! Obviously the mountainous terrain which I had glimpsed in the east somewhat beyond the region was the perfect terrain for a dreamer like myself which embarked on his own exploratory quest with the goal of uncovering some lost treasure ! But then a dream is but a dream even if being lost in the outback within rolling hills some of which somehow reminded me of the stark appeal of mountains made the illusion more palpable...
