Accident Site on the Autobahn

June 18th, 2008 - Accident site on the Autobahn the day before we arrived to 17k. An exhausted Brazilian team descending from the summit took a fall here, and although the snow picket held their fall, they fell into a bergschrund first.

Luckily, the NPS and some guides managed to extract the climbers, who only had minor frostbite and were able to descend a few days later. A guide and his client also almost fell into the 'schrund the same night. Luckily the route had been moved higher (through the rocks) by the time we made our summit bid.
