Probably the most beautiful place in the Karkonosze Mts.

White Elbe (in Czech: Bile Labe) begins as many small streams flowing from the peat bog area called Rownia pod Sniezka. As an infant river it is bordered southward by two mountains in the Czech Karkonosze, Studnicni Hora and Lucni Hora. On their northern slopes an original shrub and grassy vegetation described by botanists as the arctic tundra is developed. In the western part of this peat bog plain the very picturesque Upska Jama (Upska Circle) is situated. White Elbe starts at the elevation 1400 m asl. and then runs in deep valley westwards through many natural and man-made cascades. Very steep slopes of the valley are in form of smooth rock walls or are overgrown by Pinus montana, spruces, and small shrubs. The valley is wild and I did not see anybody during my hiking there. This river joins another arm of Elbe a little nortwards from Spindleruv Mlyn - a nice small city in Czech. From this point both arms of the river create Elbe which flows through Czech and Germany to the North See.
