Alien Mothership Sighted in Sierra!

Alien Mothership Sighted in Sierra!

When this strange cloud showed up before sunrise, I knew some weather was on the way. Twelve hours later I was sitting out a wind storm in the Royce Lakes Basin, which had gusts of 60mph, so strong they bent the poles of my REI Chrysalis one man ultra lite tent. It shredded(and I mean shredded)my brother's and nephew's emergency tube tents. Good thing I brought plenty of duct tape. "L" Lake, John Muir Wilderness, Sierra Nevada, California, USA. August 2010.

Re: Wow!

Woke up 12 hours later in a cold wind storm(like a night game at Candlestick park). All my beef jerky was gone, and the inside of my tent was plastered with Michael Jackson posters. Really weird.

Re: Wow!

Geez, I'm glad to see you back with us!

Until now, my dream had always been to wake
up with 'Janet Jackson' posters.

Go figure..

That is so cool ...

I had to google "lenticular" clouds for additional information. That's a treat to see something like, especially with the alpenglow backdrop.

Just Amazing

Truly rare - perhaps unique to get such a round form with that red tinge. Lenticular clouds sure can bring rough weather.

Re: Just Amazing

I always get up before the sunrise and I was lucky on this morning.
