Realy cool trip report! Well, You are right - not enoght TR from Tatra Mountains. Think I will write one too after March! ;) I am going to do some winter climbing there.
I know about your plans, I read it in the plans section. I wish you to find a good partner, I'm definitely not the one you search for. I am not a winter climber. I wish you great time here! And I'm looking forward to see your photos and TRs! Besides, thank you thank you like my TR!
My plans have changed a bit - now I am going there for a week in March with a group from Latvia. How is the weather in Tatras by now??? Hope it will be freezy in March, for I would like to enjoy some ice-climbing... Wish You success in Your adventures!
There's a bit more snow there. At Skalnate pleso and Strbske pleso it is slightly below the zero temperature. At the Stary Smokovec there is about two above zero temperature. This may not be the most freezing winter, but it surely will be colder and more snow. Wish you luck and nice trips in the Tatras! Here is a picture from Smokovec. Compare it with my photos and you will see there is a bit more snow.
What I really get from this is a reminder that the love of the mountains is a universal language. I certainly relate to your obviously deep appreciation of the beauty around you. Congratulations on your first real winter climb, and may you enjoy many more. And keep taking the time to admire the surroundings and the entire experience, not just the conquest itself (though that's important, too).
Dear BSIHLER, thank you for such a kind remark. That would have to be the other person, not me, unless I admired the beauty around. That´s simply impossible in my case. I may hurry to catch be atop or safe back in time, but I always take my attention for the beauty around me. For example today. I´m now in Prague, the capital of the Czech republic, I study here. As going with the tram and learning, a light of the sunsetting sun disturbed me, and the atmosphere made me very happy. I´m going to buy my first crampons, so I hope this will be a very mountainous year :) May it be also for you! :-)

I tend to hike and climb very fast, even though I'm 36 now, but I always stop to admire the flowers, the ridges, the wind, the light, etc. Sometimes driving home, the only thing that makes the traffic bearable is watching the clouds and sun as I sit going nowhere. May it be a great mountainous year for you, too.
Great trip, great pics, great report. It fills the empty space where trip reports from our Tatras should be. When I come back to Poland for good some day I'll try to change this bad statistics too :)

Thank you for so many of such a kind remarks. I completely agree with you, TRs from Tatras are something what this page badly missed. I wanted to share that beauty that I experienced. It enriched me much, now I've got people with whom I can share that beauty.
