Andy descending Andrews Glacier

Andy descending Andrews Glacier

Andy descending Andrews Glacier (no relation) after our climb of Taylor Peak. He took this shot of me as I saw the chance at a good one of him. January 24, 2004.

Re: Marvelous shot!

Thanks Kenzo and everyone else. I really appreciate it.

By the way, Andy took this picture of me just as I looked back and realized I had a chance for good photo. I took my shot a minute later.

again, wow

what camera do you shoot and what do you do to your lenses/post processing to help with the colors?

Wonderful!

Re: again, wow

Again, thanks. This was taken with a 10 year old Canon Rebel XS (the original Rebel?) and Fuji Provia 100 film. The lens is their consumer grade 24-85 USM, so nothing special there. It was certainly pulled all the way back to the full 24 mm.

I might have done a tad of color balance post processing since my scanner turms everything blue, but the origincal slide looks pretty good and not much else was required. The lens flair is too bad, I suppose I could have worked that out.

The key to the success of this shot, is the unusual lighting and scene, good exposure and composition.

Re: Very Nice!

Thanks very much Alan. It was a tough one to get a decent exposure, but it worked out OK.

Re: It makes me dream

Thanks! That's the highest of compliments, if a photo can do that to someone.

Dreamlike!

Surreal! Oh, somebody already said that. I'd be repetetive for the sake of truth. You must have taken this picture while dreaming! Tell me, how do you take a camera with you to those other worlds?

Re: Super

Thanks a lot TJ311. Glad you like the shot. I wanted to go look at some of yours but I'm on a 28KB modem connection in a hotel right now, and it's too painful to wait!

Re: Super

No problem. Give 'em a look when you're kicking back with your coffee on a rainy Sunday morning!
