Ants on the glacier

This vertical panorama gives a better impression of what lies ahead for these climbers than this separate image I posted earlier. The group started at the Braunschweiger Hütte, and are now low on the glacier north of the Innere Schwarze Schneide. I'm looking down on them from the Rettenbachjoch. From where they are, they still have the option to ascend either the Innere Schwarze Schneide itself, or the Linker Fernerkogel (3277m): in that case, they just have to make a wide turn to the right and keep going up the gentle slopes of the glacier. 1 July 2012.
