Axing the Dirt

The dirt at this spot was very hard and was covered by loose gravel making it very slippery. My guide Salim using his ice axe to dig footsteps in the dirt
On the southern slopes of Alaneh Sar

reminds me of hiking to the base camp of Ama Dablam. Hard surface, steep slope with nothing to catch you if you fall. But, it sure makes for an impressive photo. You should keep this Salim guy. He's good.

I hate areas like that, even if the area is only 100-200 ft long, it is enough to get you killed and it wastes a lot of time.

Salim is a very nice guide. He knows his stuff and is always watching out for me.
