Big Chiwy - gendarme

On the South Ridge about 300 yards from the summit there is a gendarme. One can descend around it on its west side but this makes use of ugly gullies and ledges. It is also possible to climb right over its top then down the north side via Class 3 blocks (seen here). This downclimb is not without exposure down the East Face, though.
