Big South Fork

Big South Fork

It's called the Big South Fork, but its full name is the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River. It cuts through the Cumberland Plateau of Kentucky and Tennessee. The John Muir National Recreational Trail sticks to the bluffs on the west side of the river. There's another trail on the east side that sticks to the riverside. I haven't hiked that but am looking forward to trying it one of these days. With one of the crossings you could make a good 3-5 day loop. October 2010.
