| I followed the trail up to Bird Spring Range HP and then traversed the ridge over to Bird Peak and back. There was a fresh dusting of snow in the mountains from a recent storm. | |

| Jeeped almost all the way to the top with a longtime friend, Earl Alger who is 78 years old. The wind was blowing pretty hard on top so I didn't talk Earl into traversing over to Bird Peak. | |

| Starting at the parking area suggested on the route page, I headed up the old road, soon reaching the summit of Bird Spring Range Highpoint. Although the mountain was mediocre, the views from the top were surprisingly terrific. Dropping down, I made the quick traverse over to Bird Peak, arriving 25 minutes after I'd left the vehicle. Signed the register and headed down. Rather than retrace my steps, I dropped down into a brushy drainage that led from just below Bird Peak's summit directly to my vehicle. I arrived 58 minutes after starting out. | |

| Hiked both the High Point and Bird Peak. Nice hike with great views. | |
