Ferns are among the oldest vascular plants in the fossil record, first appearing about 500 million years ago. Ferns are an important, highly distinctive element in the humid forests of the Pacific Northwest. But, here in central Arizona?? Photo taken along the north shore of Woods Canyon Lake, Arizona.
