| My 2nd experience w/ the Entrada sandstone of Arches. Unprotected .6 face to gain top of pedestal seemed about right. Then came the off-width. Hardest "5.6" (climb rating given in Green's Moab's Best guide; Bjørnstad calls it a more reasonable (to me) .7+) off-width I might have ever done! Had a knee-bar in that mofo for awhile before I pulled the move! Some awkward squirming up that strange chimney over a few seeming death blocks, & finally stood on the top of the thing. Relieved to finally be done with the climb! 2 pieces for whole climb (4.5 Camalot is the money piece). Cool to do yet another desert spire, though, & some great views. |
