Finally found the courage to get on this thing, armed with extra #2 and #3 Camalots courtesy of my friend Andy. Really fun climbing with cracks the perfect size for my hands. Mary had a much harder time with her #1 Camalot-sized hands. Quick descent down the north face.

Finally did the Kor-Ingalls on Castle Rock! Phenomenal climb, I'd say one of my 10 favorites. Surreal, amazing place. Doing it on a weekday in the winter, we had the route to ourselves, which was fantastic. Old-school rating (esp. P2, ".8+" :) ), but well protected (bolts protecting an off-width?? Wouldn't find that in the Valley!!). Rock quality 5-star, as well as the views at the top. Memorable day with a great partner!

very cold and harder than expected, i took the easy out when the group in front offered a t.r. on pitches 2 and 3 I am looking forward to many more climbs on this tower..summited at 3:30 sunset was at 5:30 all in all turned out to be an enjoyable climb, went free but a scary on-site for me.

Superclassic, which I don't have to climb again! I was not fond of the off width on the 3rd pitch. I think that rating 5.9 makes it sound much easier, but I found it more difficult than that. Also sandstone is covered with calcite, which makes it very slippery.
Chimney sections were not so hard.

Did Kor Ingalls with Will on a beautiful autumn day. Pitch 3 was pretty hard but I managed...glad there were some bolts. Sweet summit as well and great views.

First desert tower. Pretty awesome. Not really fun climbing, but a fun climb overall! Seemed fairly run out (we clipped 20 pieces on the entire climb), but the climbing was easy. Rapped the North Face with a single 60m. Didn't make it to the ground and had to down climb around 20ft - don't recommend trying this, bring doubles.

What an incredible route. I'm sure the Kor-Ingells is way worth while, but don't overlook this one, especially if there's a crowd.

fun route, but hardly a classic. Sandbagged, unless I took the wrong crack on the 2nd pitch :)

What an incredible setting! The view from the summit is unrivaled. I was worried it would be too hot to climb, but we had great weather...temps in the 90's. We got an early start and were the only people on the route the entire day. This is hard to believe, since it was a Sunday. There were, however, multiple parties inching their way up the North Chimney. The route was in the shade up until we reached the last pitch.

We climbed the classic Kors Ingalls Route then the next day did a route on the east face on a double 5.9 crack. I wanted to climb that rock formation since I was 10 years old seeing a picture of Castle Tower in a Natl. Geographic magazine in 1962. Climbed it 20 years later.

I've been on Castleton a couple of times. The first time was on the North Chimney, a fantastic route. The second time was on Kor Ingalls, which we shared with tons of other parties. Both routes are good.

Climbed with the wife. No problems except for a torn shoelace before beginning. That desert sandstone eats everything. Beauty of a climb. Good to finally climb it after attending Castle Valley Adventist school way back in the early 80s. Better than burning down the school.
