| BLong | Good acclimatization ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 15, 2009 | |
| I enjoyed this cruiser peak as an acclimatization hike before getting farther into the mountains. I wish we could have spent more time up top, although we did the trip as an organized tour, so it was a bit rushed. | Igor Czs | very high slog! ![]() Date Climbed: Apr 30, 1995 | |
| My very first high altittude ascent.Prior to start the ice climbing schol. Some of the group stayed at the first false summit after the hut.Note...there are 3 our 4 false tops until the very top of Chacaltaya (100 elevation gain from the hut), and its a large plataform with a small apacheta (markstone). Made it with my friend Renato. I will try to post this pic. The Best for aclimatize! | ||

| Hiked up with my guide, Eduardo Mamani, two days after leaving Denver. Windy, with great views, particularly of HP. If you want to save $, take a bus, but don't go all the way to the top parking lot if you want to get the most out of your hike for acclimatization. You can get lunch in the old lodge. | ||
