Chimney Rock, Frozen and Cold

Chimney Rock, Frozen and Cold

Chimney Rock in his full winter glory. It's an interesting exercise to look at a mountain and assign a gender based on the feeling the mountain gives you. For me Chimney Rock is a man mountain, and here he stands with his full winter coat. Seen from the West Ridge of Pratt Mountain 3-19-17. Alpine Lakes Wilderness, WA.

Like Rainier and Stewart ...

this is one that looks better on the north side, but only my opinion no doubt and no worries.

Overcoat glacier... and if you live in the Puget Sound area, it's best to have your hip-waders available year-round.

Re: Like Rainier and Stewart ...

I've been meaning to to the Alpine Lakes High Route, with a stop at Iron Cap Mountain which would offer a PRIME location for viewing the north face of Chimney Rock. Might just have to check that one off the list this year!
