Common Cattail

Common Cattail (Typha latifolia) is an erect, semiaquatic or aquatic, perennial herb. It belongs to the Typhaceae Family. Its flower structures are dense, dark brown, cylindrical spikes on the end of a long stem. The male portion is positioned above the female portion; they are continuous or slightly separated. Common Cattail blooms from June to August. This photo was taken on the wet western slope of Mount Mogila. The Low Beskid - August 6, 2008.
