Nicely written report Greg. However, I think Montgomery is a bit miffed.....
Good job guys, sorry I couldn't make it.

Re: Very good
Thanks Scotty. We figured it would add at least two hours to the hike if we touched the top of all the peaks. Montgomery is one of my favorites and I spent some time on the summit a few weeks earlier. Heck, I even signed the register.
The Whites are a bizarre, moon-like, magical place, & the effort & idea to do this huge traverse are inspiring! Not seeing a soul on the W ridge of WMP recently was my version of your trip- a great time.
Fantastic trip report. Having climbed BP and Mont. from Trail Canyon and White from the Barcroft TH several times, I've thought about the same traverse, but was also a little unclear about the territory n. of Jumpoff. Your TR was a great inspiration to get my a#* out there perhaps in the spring after snowmelt. I also have a sneaking suspicion that you've hit the nail on the head about what they're doing with those sheep at Barcroft. :-)
Congrats on quite an accomplishment! Years ago, I plotted out a similar trip on all the topos for a traverse of the Whites (north to south), but I never came close to getting serious about it. I'm your age and can't quite fathom doing it in one day! Good job!
Great story-telling of an awesome adventure! Having grown up
hiking in the Whites of New Hampshire I've wanted to trek
around on the Whites of California since I first saw them.
Thanks for the inspiration to do so, and congratulations to you and Barry!

ExcellentHey Greg, I know I'm biased, but excellent trip report, well worth reading even though I already knew how it was going to come out.

Fine writing!Great job of presentation, Greg. If I didn't know you two personally, I would not have believed this could be done in one day.
