| Typical frustration with AT mountains - the trail takes you 90%+ up the peak before descending. So, of COURSE I'm going to hop up the clearest path to the tippy top! Bummed by the view-blocking Rhody's on top, but still glad I topped out. A good way to say "Welcome to North Carolina!" | |

| This was to be the 1st peak I would go over in NC on a 100-mile AT hike spanning from Dick's Creek Gap in GA to Fontana Dam in NC. This was during what I consider to be the peak of last year's drought (at least the hottest and driest in my opinion). The only rain I encountered during the entire hike began pouring down on me as I was about a tenth of a mile from the top. As it was thundering also, I didn't linger on the peak. | |

| A beautful day to be up on the mountain. The fall colors were spectacular in the valley below. I highly recommend going up in the late fall. | |
