Easy hike to the summit, this little mountain is crazy overcrowded.

Quick & Easy
35 minutes to the top, I almost feel embarrassed to put this one on the list.

Golfcrest
Fun quick one that’s very crowded. Views were outstanding and perfect Feb weather. Think I’ll head over to Pyles Peak next.

Quick and Easy
Next time I'll explore farther than just the summit. Great views of downtown and the ocean.

Das it mane
Done from the backside and the main route many times. Busiest trail in San Diego, possibly the world.

Human ant hill
Looked like an ant hill with so many people coming up and down.

Cowles Mountain Summit
This was my first climb of many, many here. I climbed this from the steeper, far less crowded fire road before I moved here. I use this mountain to train for much bigger objectives in the Cascades (Mount Rainier, Mount Adams), High Sierra (Mount Whitney, Mount Langley), etc.. Originally from Connecticut, this mountain is named after a businessman who moved from Hartford, CT to San Diego. It is frequently mispronounced as COWles as in cow instead of the correct pronunciation "Coals". Excellent views of San Diego County, the Pacific Ocean and Mexico from the top.
Fast and fun hike. Its usually pretty crowded, but that can be a good think to push you on your training runs.

Overcast day
In town for a conference, hiked the peak with many others. Easy, straightforward. Cloudy day made views kind of hard to come by. The scenery on the trails was better.

suprising solitude
Hiked this for the first time with a friend, from the Mission View Estates trail head starting at around 10AM. Didn't see a single other person. The few time's I've been back it has been very crowded.
Nice little workout, and of course the views are excellent.

Fitness Fun
Summited twice for the first time the other day. Always fun to get a group together and do Cowles as a night hike during a full moon.

Not so bad
EASY....This is non technical, pertty easy to do climb. It's more for fitness, as you gain elevation fairly quickly. Not a lot shade there, so bring lotion in the summer. Park in the park or on the street. Summit is pretty nice, views 360. Next time will try running up there as I saw them on my way up.

From Golfcrest
My wife and I hiked the trail from Golfcrest and Navajo. This is probably the most crowded hike I have ever been on and it was a Monday. Lots of trail runners which is surprising because you would think they would run on a less crowded trail.
This is definitely a popular trail. I've been out there a number of times, and there are always at least a few other hikers. I've seen the sun rise from the top, as well as the moon rise another time.
