Crater Lake, Oregon

Crater Lake, Oregon

Found out the King of Pop had died while taking this photo (cell phone). This is an HDR image consisting of three files spread over 6 EV at a 20mm focal length.

Tragic ...

What I love most about this photo is, you can see Mount Scott and Mount Theilsen, all in the
same view.

Is this the future of photography ???

You know your mountains! I was wondering about the names of those mountains. They are striking with their snow caps, or am I correct to assume Scott and Theilsen are the two snow capped peaks in the background?

I love the ultra-wide compositions and Crater Lake makes for easy use of such focal lengths.

A good question as to whether HDR is the future in photography. I'd say to some degree, it will be. I am finding I like using it for most of my landscapes, but I think the trick to using HDR is to make the final product not necessarily look like HDR. I am just beginning to understand tone mapping. Like anything else, the more I do, the more proficient I will get. Photomatix is worth the extra bucks, IMO. I do most of my editing with Photoshop, but I start out with Lightroom for RAW conversion, then Photomatix for merging, then Photoshop for color balance and whatnot. I wonder what Galen Rowel's opinion would have been regarding HDR?
