American Marmotsseem less shy than those of the Alps! I have never got a good shot of an Alpine marmot, except near Saas Fee, where they are almost tame.

Re: American MarmotsI think that the only reason this marmot allowed me to get so close to it was because it had never seen a human before. We saw another marmot at a lower (and easier to reach) elevation that seemed quite cautious of us.
