Without crampons on a gentle slope, much easier to fall on your bum. Not easy to cut steps here. Better to go steep.

Hi Liba.
I am holding the camera. Or I clamp the camera to the axe to include myself in the frame.

Yes, I am a solo mountaineer, though not the big league. I have never used crampons, despite that I often needed them. In this way I can greatly increase the challenge.

I also did some modest solo climbing, but now prefer the mountains themselves, and I love bike riding. I had fabulous adeventures when working in Italy.

Marvelous early morning (or evening?) light, and that ice-axe in the picture emphasizes the feeling of solitude...

Thanks. It is evening light, and a mountain that I climbed many times. I often like to place the axe in the pictures. You are right, it emphasizes the feeling of solitude. The next photo which you voted on, I like too. It has a wilder mood and the ice mist is blowing across the surface.

And oh so slippery, and being flat, no way to kick in. Seems like I had to tread the ice like rice paper AKA, David Caradine - Kung Fu "Grass Hopper when you can tread the rice paper without tearing it..."

I must look up what the punchline was - maybe - "You have reached enlightenment?" Answers please:
