Route Description

This trail makes a loop around the entire top of the Shikellamy Overlook. From the parking areas on top follow the trail along the edge to the north corner of the park where it turns west. Follow the trail through the woods down into Dry Hollow and continue for about .75 miles. The trail will then split with the left being the Dry Hollow Trail and straight continuing the Deer Trail. Continue for another .5 miles to the top of a ridge where you can see the road heading up Blue Hill to the overlook. The trail splits here. Left takes you onto the Oak Ridge Trail and straight takes you down the hill to the auto road which takes you back to the top. This hike is beautiful as it heads through some beautiful pine stands and affords wonderful views of the Susquehanna River. The trail is just over 3 miles in total length. You'll gain about 200 feet if you do the entire loop starting from the top.
