Depth on the Goat Trail

Depth on the Goat Trail

Not too far along the Ptarmigan Tunnel to Ahern Pass Goat Trail, this scene illustrates the depth one encounters for much of its four-mile, cliff-hugging length. Contrary to what it appears at this point, much of the trail is relatively level, but for approximately half the four miles, exposure is extreme enough that concentration on foot placement won't be a problem. Big mountain is Ipasha Peak (9572'), with the spire on its right being the Lithoid Cusp. Stream running out of snowfield below Lithoid Cusp is approximately 5100'.

Re: something...

Thanks for checking out the picture, Tomek, and believe me when I say the photo doesn't begin to do justice to the reality! Glacier National Park is a real...jewel.
