Don't Tread on Me!

Don't Tread on Me!

A sidewinder partially hidden in the sand at Saratoga Spring. Photo taken by my wife, who nearly stepped on this guy (or gal). It's a good thing she didn't since that would have messed up a planned climb at Red Rocks later that day! Death Valley National Park, CA-- April 2011

Re: Wow!

My wife got this shot; I never saw the snake, though I've seen one of these before out in Death Valley. Pretty cool how they blend in.

Re: And she didn't...

Thanks-- actually, my wife deserves the credit; she got this shot and I never even saw the snake.

For goodness snake ..

My wife would have ended up in the next
county, maybe even in Nevada. Nice shot.

Re: For goodness snake ..

Luckily for me, she doesn't have issues with snakes, though she isn't so fond of spiders.

Too close for me.

Hopefully, your wife used a telephoto lens.

Re: Too close for me.

She did, but you can see from the angle that she wasn't that terribly far away. But she was out of striking distance!
