| 3/6/2010 With Mike, Rob, and Sharon via the yurt and Castle Lake. With over a foot of snow the day before trail breaking was really slow. It took 3 hrs to go the 1st 5 miles to the yurt on a broken trail and then it took 3.5 hrs to go less than 2.5 miles to the summit. We met the party that stayed at the yurt the night before on their way out. A snowmobile was supposed to transport their gear to them but turned around about 2 miles short because there was too much snow and just left the group's gear out there on the snow and they had to spend the night without their sleeping bags, dinner, etc. They didn't feel like carrying their booze out so they gave it to us :) 3/11/2007 With MOCKBA and Rob on skis, the first summit I ever skied to. By way of Upper Setting Road and Lower Yellow Pine Lake. Then headed east to 10460, descended to West Shingle Creek Lake, and then headed back via Upper Setting Road. | |

| This was my 100th new summit! I had a visitor on the top - a mountain goat walked about 20 ft in front of me. He didn't even mind that I was there. He just kept following the animal trail, but occasionally would look up at me then keep walking. | |

| Climbed Duke Mountain after Castle Peak. I followed the ridge north from Castle and traversed above the canyon. When I got to the summit it had become very windy and afternoon thunder showers were moving in. It started raining but I didn't mind on this very warm day. | |
