Durango-Silverton RR

Durango-Silverton RR

Durango-Silverton RR This is at the start of the route taken by the Durango-Silverton RR in Durango. Even the background scenery in the morning is great. A word to the wise though, ride in the closed car if you don't want soot in your eyes or lunches! Taken pre-digital in August 2000

Saw something

on the History Ch. about this RR. Pretty amazing. I think they restored it if I'm correct

Re: Saw something

Could be, I can't remember but sounds about right. This part of the state is pretty amazing!

There's something...

...about trains and mountains. What stories they together tell...

Re: There's something...

I agree! I rafted through the very narrow Royal Gorge in Colorado with the railroad tracks nearby. Made for very interesting fun when the trains sounds competed with guide rafting commands!

Thanks for looking!

Open cars

But the view is better from the open cars! I've ridden it twice - great ride!
