I did this last November in a 7 peak traverse starting with Wulsten Baldy. The class 3 section of the South Ridge of Eagle can be skirted on the north side (chossy).
Thanks a lot, John! Actually, this is what Mike and I did en-route to Eagle. However, most of the rock was either snow covered ice or thick verglas, made for some dicey moves. After seeing how the spine played out, we just stuck to the crest on the way back.
