East Face of Stoney Indian Peaks

East Face of Stoney Indian Peaks

Here is a photo of the East Face of Stoney Indian Peaks taken in August 2012. The Stoney Indian traverse route to Mt. Cleveland uses a horizontal ledge that crosses the gully at center just below the narrow snowfinger below the notch. In early season if the snowfinger extends below the ledge, crossing the finger could be spicy without protection. The larger snowfield at right was steep for us for the firmness of the snow we encountered. We descended slightly to go beneath it.
