Hiked from East Entrance TH to Weeping Rock. The first 5 miles or so were just a nice hike but the views were much better the second 5 miles heading down into Echo Canyon area with the slickrock and coming out with the views of Angels Landing and the valley below. Hitched a ride from the Canyon Junction stop back up to the car with a pair of friendly German guys who had just completed the Observation Point hike.
Did it with a side trip to Cable Mountain in an off-and-on sleet storm. Avg'd about 3 mph. At one point I was looking at my feet as sleet drenched my poncho, and accidentally went 0.5 mile back where I had been, after a tight switchback!
Was dropped off at the Route 9 trailhead at 7 a.m. Hiked the East Rim Trail to Deertrap Mountain, then back to East Rim. Reached Weeping Rock at 3 p.m. Total of 17.3 miles
