Lack of snow..

I've always thought the Front Range peaks
received more snow than pictured here..

Oh well, at least you didn't have to worry
about "post-holing."

Larry,

There were several feet of snow down in the trees. The aspect you see pictured here has been scoured by winds, thus the apparent lack of snow.

It's pretty typical on Colorado Front Ranges peaks to use your snowshoes to tree line, then ditch them and boot up the rocks to the summit.
