Voted 10/10 | I am headed to Santa Cruz Island in March while I am seeing friends in Ventura. I am pumped, as it is my first time on the Channel Islands. Do you have an idea when the wildflowers bloom out there? Too bad the whole island isn't owned by the NPS... | |

Hasn't voted | With the drought I don't really know how the flowers will be effected. I would think May/June would be better. My trip was in March. Very very green! The place is totally beautiful. You should hike the peak, the views are some of the best anywhere. I studied archaeology in college and volunteered to do some survey work there with a UCSB grad student. It included free transportation and food. Also a chance to camp in the backcountry which isn't allowed. The survey work turned up mostly shell midden sites of the Chumash people. I have three favorite places in California, Big Sur, Santa Cruz, and Santa Cruz Island. I look forward to your pictures! Have a great trip. Ryan | |
