Endogenous lava dome ...
SUGARLOAF at 9,283', east of Lockett Meadows and Humphreys Peak, is a true lava dome exhibiting endogenous (rhyolite) characteristics. Serveral cubic yards of the ancient stratovolcano, immediately west of here, were lost in an ancient lateral BLAST, not unlike what Pacific Northwest volcanoes have experienced in the recent past.VIEW IN OPPOSITE DIRECTION!
