evening alpenglow

evening alpenglow

Evening alpenglow graces the top of a cluster of Many Glacier monsters. In fact, the four highest points in the Many Glacier Valley are all visible in this photo. The two points just left of center and basked in the waning alpenglow are Cracker Peak (left, an "unofficial" summit at 9,833 feet) and Mount Siyeh (right, 10,014), fifth tallest peak in Glacier National Park. In front and to the right is bulky Allen Mountain (9,376); the actual summit is on the right and fully lit. Mount Gould (9,533), straddling the Continental Divide, rises in the right background. The distinct, multi-colored mountain in the left foreground is Wynn Mountain (8,404). September 16, 2008
