Exit Stage Left

Exit Stage Left
The too-steep-to-climb headwall of South Klondike Couloir is visible right of center. For a fun finish, move left to climb the "snow hump" (moderate-- steeper than it looks here but short) and then climb the lower headwall, which at the time of this photo was about 7-8 feet high. Then it's a short walk to the ridgetop leading to the summit of Medicine Bow Peak.

You could also head for those rocks if you're not comfortable with any part of the headwall or if it's corniced.

"Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan "press on" has solved and always will solve the problems of the human race."   --Calvin Coolidge
