Fairy Iris (Dietes grandiflora)

Seen in the Santa Monica Mountains in Southern California. Native to South Africa it's probably a garden escapee. Many thanks to SP member Nartreb for identification. April 2008.

It's either dietes grandiflora or the very similar dietes iridoides
